As I was sitting on the bleachers near the Richmond (VA) racetrack as a spectator this weekend, I thought about three possible reasons race fanatics love to watch NASCAR: (1) Of course, the roaring sound of excitement as the cars start racing as well as the nail biting kind felt as the cars fight for those top points; (2) the humor of sitting with reliable titanic earphones on while exercising the neck and eye muscles for the whole 200 laps period, trying to keep up with the speeding vehicles, and (3) (lightheartedly) the pleasure of being cooled [or rather, blown] -by the wind created by the race- for free.
